PRE-ORDER Christopher Hoffman - REX (OOYH 040)

ANNOUNCING our first record of 2026 (out 1/16), Christopher Hoffman’s debut solo cello album, REX (OOYH 040), a tribute to the American watercolor painter and ornithologist Rex Brasher. The first single Rex, is out now, streaming and on Bandcamp. PRE-SAVE REX.

We are doing a few different versions of the LP, all featuring a beautiful gatefold of Brasher’s painting Swallow Tail Kite, a font TJ Huff created from Brasher’s own handwriting for the cover and back, and an 11 x 11 insert. LPs will be in stock any day now, and we will be shipping them as soon as we have them, approximately 2 months before release day. The other special edition LPs (25 Wax Mage, 50 Robin’s Egg Party Monsters, and 100 opaque Pipe Smoke) will go on sale on December 5, so if you prefer a color option we recommend waiting until then. We also did a limited run of 200 hand stamped CDs, which come with the insert and Swallow Tail Kite and they should begin shipping in the next two weeks. REX is a solo cello record written and recorded while I’ve been living in the former home of Rex Brasher, a self-taught painter who created over 1,200 watercolors of North American birds. Composed for acoustic and electric cello, the record reflects the solitude and intensity that shaped both Brasher’s vision and my own process. Rex is not a portrait, but an echo—of a person, a place, and a way of seeing the world.
