PRE-ORDER Laura Ann Singh - Mean Reds (OOYH 038)

ANNOUNCING the debut album from Richmond VA vocalist Laura Ann Singh, Mean Reds (OOYH 038), featuring her Fracas Quintet of Scott Clark - drums, Adam Hopkins - bass, John Lilley - reeds, and Bob Miller - trumpet. The title track Mean Reds is now streaming only on Bandcamp, LINK HERE to that as well as pre-save for all streaming services and LP pre-order. The full album comes out October 24 on LP + digital, and the LP for this one should be in hand any day now (the test pressings for this one sound especially incredible).

The compositions on Mean Reds are as versatile as Laura Ann herself, who co-leads the internationally acclaimed bolero band Miramar, recently recorded with Tomeka Reid’s Ellington project, commissioned and recorded an album of covers with the Rosette String Quartet, performs regularly with the RVA psych-rock bands amminal and Sydnorigami, as the featured vocalist with the Doug Richards Orchestra, and many others. On her contributions to Scott Clark’s 2023 Dawn & Dusk (OOYH 021), Free Jazz Collective said “Laura Ann Singh has a hauntingly angelic voice, that is at once assertive and fragile.”

The album design and photography for Mean Reds are by TJ Huff, and both the digital download and LP come with a lyric insert. There will be a release concert in Richmond on October 30 at Révelér, and a whole lot more info on this coming soon. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
